Their Royal Highnesses the King and Queen of Spain Visited the CardioBus

King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía visit the Bayer HealthCare Plant in La Felguera, Spain. They had the opportunity to visit the CardioBus, a mobile laboratory for the assessment of cardiovascular risk factors. This laboratory has provided the basis for the CardioAlert Campaign in Spain, an initiative to create awareness amongst the population with regards to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Bayer HealthCare has been working on this project since 2004 with the support of the Spanish Ministry of Health and Consumption and the collaboration of prestigious medical companies. The Campaign, in which around 150 health professionals have taken part, has covered the whole of Spain, visiting 28 cities and dealing with over 13,000 people.

Aspirin®, over 100 years of an essential drug

Aspirin® is considered an essential drug by the World Health Organisation (WHO), given its properties, accessibility and low price. Aspirin® acts as a painkiller and anti-inflammatory, and has become a drug of reference. It is particularly suitable for relieving pain, lowering fever temperatures and reducing swelling, in addition to cardiovascular protection when consumed in small doses.
Nowadays, Aspirin® is the most widely used drug to combat different types of pain, and 80% of people in Spain say they always have some handy for the event of a headache.
In addition to controlling pain, the low dosage of acetylsalicylic acid (Adiro®) is key to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular prevention, with numerous scientific studies showing that it significantly reduces (32%) the risk of suffering a first heart attack.
